What would you do to foster community at USD?
Once he arrived at Alcalá Park, Marc Gonzales started planning concerts, scheduling movie nights and arranging activities off campus to help bring the USD community together.

The very definition of community states a group of like-minded individuals. Truth is, most often, this solidarity excludes those who don’t share the same “like-minded” view. My contribution would be to welcome all points of view, and not be afraid to tackle the tough questions and hard subjects. In understanding that collectively, the USD community is comprised of views that may not be the accepted social norm, but are still equally valuable and essential to the equation of striving for community; is a true community.

I have a unique background of working with people with developmental disabilities, and they have certainly won a piece of my heart, so I would work to arrange groups to work with them expand the USD community by opening our hearts!

Start a nutrition club and teach my peers the importance of living a good healthy life. Maybe even set up a friendly relay race around the campus or city .

I would start a retreat program very popular in Texas called ACTS (Adoration, Community Theology, and Faith) to bring students together in a faith filled community! This would bring the students close to one another, help them individually, and also bring more faith to the community.

I think most students at USD are truly ready and able to make a difference. I am involved in a volunteer group called ‘Corazon’ that drives into Tijuana every Saturday and builds a house for a family that needs it. It is an extremely fun and rewarding experience and I think it would be a great way to foster community at USD. I think starting a club for this organization would be a good idea to get USD’s students involved in the community. But first, I need to get accepted…

I saw a commercial from Notre Dame College and this student created a club that has been growing in many other colleges in America. She created a club that helped elderly get one last wish before their time was up and it truly touched my heart. I would be interested in looking into her club details and bringing it to USD!
