Classroom Conflict: Engaging Students Effectively
Thursday, September 27th, 12:15 to 2:15 p.m.
Location:  Degheri Board Room
This discussion will focus on two issues: students’ expression of diverse opinions and students’ use of technology in the classroom. How do you create a classroom climate that encourages exploring different, oppositional sides of issues without losing a sense of decorum and respect for all points of view? Technology can be an asset or an intrusion in class; where do you draw the line? Based on experience, USD professors offer their   perspectives on the policies they have adopted for their classrooms.

Finding Funding: Internal and External Grants
Tuesday, October 30th, 12:15 to 2:15 p.m.
Location:  Kroc IPJ Room I
One of the most difficult issues is where and how to go about finding funding for the research you want to do. Today’s discussion will provide you with information about internal and external sources of grants, and the services of the Office of Sponsored Programs. We will also consider how to establish a better and more effective internal support system for faculty conducting research.
