This event is an opportunity to confer with colleagues from other departments and schools about ways to develop and strengthen educational partnerships involving students and faculty in international learning experiences. Participants will explore the topics of global and cultural competence during morning and afternoon presentations from individuals across campus who will share their experiences of teaching, service-learning, and doing research abroad. During lunch we will hear keynote remarks from Carl Jubran, Special Assistant to the Provost & Chair of USD's International Council and Tony Claudino, special guest from the Institute of International Education. The afternoon session will feature a special presentation by Aboubakr Jamai, former editor of Le Journal Hebdomadaire, journalist and champion of freedom of the press in Morocco, who was recently featured in the New Yorker in an article by Jane Kramer titled “The Crusader.”

This session will also include presentations from representatives from campus study abroad programs sharing their experiences as well as covering topics such as how to organize and receive funding for international program development.
