Recognition Reception

Faculty and staff who contribute to CEE programming and events throughout the year are honored and thanked at the annual CEE Recognition Reception in May.  We take the time every year to highlight our award winners, presenters, and others who make the Center’s work possible.  This social event provides faculty a chance to relax at the end of the year and meet other faculty, as well as acknowledge those who contribute to the CEE.

New Faculty Socials

In support of new-to-USD tenure-track, adjunct, and postdoc faculty, the CEE holds several social events each year, including the beginning and end of each semester.  These events encourage new faculty to create a community of teacher-scholars and allow time for networking and informal conversation. At the start of each semester we offer our New Faculty Social at an off-campus location. This is a time meet new colleagues and enjoy good food and dialogue. Additionally, at the end of the fall semester we offer a New Faculty Holiday Social on campus with wine, cheese, and chocolate, and in May we gather for a final session to reflect on the academic year and to examine the experiences of new faculty with the intention to design and improve new faculty support mechanisms.

Adjunct Events

We encourage all new and continuing adjunct faculty to attend any or all of our workshops and events. We also have special events specifically designed with adjunct faculty in mind. These are our Fall Welcome and Orientation usually held in mid-August, our special half day workshops in January as well as our Adjunct Reception usually held in April. Come join us to meet new colleagues, get connected with others on the USD campus, and enjoy good food and dialogue. Visit our Adjunct Essentials section for resources gathered especially for our part-time and adjunct faculty.

Women’s and Gender Studies Banquet

The Women’s and Gender Studies Banquet is a joint reception between the CEE, the Women’s Center, and the Women’s and Gender Studies Minor.  The CEE supports the work of the Women’s Center and Women’s and Gender Studies Minor by helping run this banquet.  Students in the capstone course of the minor present their research in a poster session. Then everyone gathers for a lovely dinner, presentation of awards to deserving students, and review of the work of the Women’s Center in the previous year.
