Insipid art, flaming hearts, devotional practices verging on the superstitious – all of these virtually guaranteed that devotion to the Sacred Heart would rapidly wane in light of Vatican II’s emphasis on the liturgy. This presentation, in word and image, will attempt to reinterpret the core mystery, the love of Christ, and will challenge 21st century Christians who, by our vocation, are also meant to be God’s heart on earth. _________________________ Wendy M.
