Center for Christian Spirituality

Drop Shadow

History and Mission

The University of San Diego Center for Christian Spirituality (CCS), the successor to the Institute for Christian Ministry (ICM), began in fall 2001. Both ICM and CCS have been partially funded by an endowment established by the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States province. The endowment supports outreach programs for the larger San Diego region. Which Christian Spirituality is the tradition in which the Center is rooted, all people who want their lives to be consonant with their deepest values and meaning are welcome and respected. The diversity of our beliefs and cultures is itself a great gift.

The center emphasizes dialogue as an essential way to discover and share the transcendent values of life in order that they may be placed at the service of the community. While the scope of the Center’s programs is broad and diverse, they center around spiritual, theological, biblical, ethical, and social justice issues.

We welcome your suggestions on topics of importance to you which the Center and various schools and programs of the University may be of help in addressing.
