France is home to six million Muslims, the
largest Muslim population in Western Europe.
Learn the religious foundations of Islam, its rituals, law, and history. Since we will be in
Paris we will discuss immigration and
integration of Muslims, issues like public prayer, halal meat, the hijab, the mosque, and
the perceived threat of Islamization of Europe.
Find out how a strong Muslim presence impacts
French society and politics, and what effects
living in France have on second, third, and
fourth generation Muslim immigrants.
We will visit the Islamic
art exhibit at the Louvre,
the Mosque of Paris, and
Institute du Monde
Arabe, among other sites.
