Mitzi Schleicher Smith, MFA
Mitzi Michaels Schleicher Smith, MFA, is an Educator, Performer, and Theatrical Business Consultant. As an educator, Mitzi has taught Acting, Voice, Dance, Theatre History and Professional Development at a collegiate level. A former Broadway casting director, Professor Schleicher offers a unique insight into what it takes to make the transition from aspiring actor to theatre professional. With a BFA from The Boston Conservatory and an MFA from San Diego State University, plus years of New York City experience, Mitzi is a specialist on what tools are essential to know in order to market a theatre professional to their full potential. Mitzi is devoted to curriculum development for theatre students and has worked with the American Music and Dramatic Academy on effective research and standards for their BFA students. In addition, Mitzi is a professional actress who has appeared at many San Diego theatres such as Cygnet, The Welk Resort, Diversionary, and Moonlight Amphitheatre, favorite shows include Monty Python’s Spamalot, Sweeney Todd and playing the title role in Funny Girl. Concert work includes singing with Carlos Santana and The Boston Pops. Mitzi is a member of ATHE & MTEA. She currently teaches Acting and Theatre and Society courses at the University of San Diego, as well as teaching at the La Jolla Playhouse and North Coast Rep Theatre.
