USD DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE ANNOUNCES OPEN AUDITIONS (16 and 17 May)

FOR THE FALL 2017 PRODUCTION OF HENRY V

Shakespeare’s most theatrical play, Henry V moves swiftly from London to Southampton to Normandy, to Paris – climaxing at the famous Battle of Agincourt, 25 October 1415, which is still studied by military strategists today. Henry V illustrates the overwhelming potential of the human spirit, and the unique ability of the theatre to carry away an audience’s imagination. I

IMPORTANT AUDITION NOTES:

  • Auditions are open to all students, faculty, and staff at the University of San Diego.
  • Regardless of the historical context of the play, ALL ROLES are open to both men and women and open to all races/ethnicities. (Expect non-traditional casting.)
  • First round of auditions will take the form of a Shakespeare workshop: 1-4PM on Tuesday, 16 May, Camino Hall room 131 2-5PM on Wednesday, 17 May, Camino Hall room 131
  • To be considered for the cast, please attend either or both workshops.
  • RSVP to the director (sripley@sandiego.edu) and indicate which workshop(s)/audition(s) you will be attending.
  • To participate in the workshop(s)/audition(s):
    • Prepare/memorized a one-minute speech from Henry V
    • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Bring the completed audition forms with you.

Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled audition time.

Conflicts (such as evening classes) must be listed on audition forms and will be taken into account during casting. Depending on your role, the commitment could be 1-6 days per week, 1-4 hours per day/night during the week, 1-5 hours on weekends. Rehearsals will be evenings Monday through Friday 6-10 PM, and Saturday 12-5 pm. Sunday will be a day off.

Obviously, you must not have any conflicts during the performance dates of the fall productions, and no conflicts during tech week preferred. All actors are required to participate in strike as scheduled. You will be required to register for a Theatre Arts and Performance Studies practicum credit if you are cast.

NOTE: Theatre practicum credits may no longer be deferred to another semester.
