Liu and Kelly Publish in The Journal for Civic Commitment

Judith Liu, PhD, Sociology, and Donald P. Kelly, lecturer in USD's Master of Science in Global Leadership Program, have published "Democracy is Hard"/"Democracy is Messy" in The Journal for Civic Commitment, XIV, No. 1 (January 2010).

The article emerged from Liu's participation in the California Campus Compact/Carnegie Foundational Faculty Fellows: Service Learning for Political Engagement Project, and it details the learning outcomes for students who were enrolled in a 2008 Fall semester upper-division sociology course, "Political Sociology."  Earlier results of the course were presented at the Pacific Sociological Association Conference held in San Diego in April, 2009.
