Chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences at USD

The University of San Diego is seeking a person at the level of associate or full professor (area of focus is open) for the position of Chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences. The Department currently has 12 full-time faculty members and offers an undergraduate major and minor in psychology and will begin offering a major in behavioral neuroscience (Fall of 2012). Our program strongly emphasizes the basic scientific nature of psychology, and an important component of our program is providing research and applied opportunities for our students in the context of a liberal arts education. Candidates for chair must have a Ph.D. in psychology or other related field and should have experience mentoring both faculty and students. Past leadership/administrative experience is highly preferred. In addition to chair responsibilities, the candidate should be prepared to teach courses in his/her area along with lower division courses. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research program that could involve undergraduate students. Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank.
