MAIR Alumnus Receives PhD
Paul E. Lenze, Jr. received his PhD in Political Science at Washington State University on Jan. 21, 2011, after writing a dissertation entitled, “Civil-Military Relations in ‘Islamic Democracies’: Military Interventions & Withdrawals in Algeria, Pakistan & Turkey”. He received an MA in International Relations from USD in May 2003 and a BA in Political Science from the University of Washington in June 2000.
He specializes in international relations, political psychology and American politics. He teaches a variety of courses in international relations and comparative politics. His research examines civil-military relations, Middle East politics, U.S. foreign policy and national security, ethnic conflict, leadership, and peace-building.
Currently an instructor at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., he has also taught at USD, Gonzaga University, Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho, and Washington State University.
