| Message | The University of San Diego Trans-Border Institute (TBI) and Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies welcome Professor Miguel Sarre as a visiting scholar for the 2011 fall semester. Professor Sarre has been a law professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM ) in Mexico City since 1977. His expertise is centered on international human rights, serving as a member of the United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. As well as acting as a representative for the academic sector on the Secretaría del Consejo de Coordinación para la Implementación del Sistema de Justicia Penal (SETEC). SETEC oversees the implementation of the Mexican criminal justice reforms passed in 2008. During his time at USD, he will be giving a public lecture on Public Security and Human Rights in Mexico.
