Aristotle wrote that politics aims at the highest human good, the best of ends, and that the study of politics constitutes the most comprehensive and ennobling of disciplines.  As an ancient discipline, politics is about how people grapple with fundamental questions of freedom, power, order, equality, justice, and the relationship between the community and the individual. 

http://www.sskrplaw.com/blog/LadyJustice.jpgIn the Political Science & International Relations Department students study these fundamental questions in the United States and in other countries around the globe.  We offer undergraduate degrees in both Political Science and International Relations and a master’s degree in International Relations.  In completing a degree, students choose among a wide selection of courses in six sub-fields:  international relations, comparative politics, political theory, American politics, public law, and quantitative methods.  We also offer a variety of specialized courses such as race and ethnicity, gender politics, and environmental policy.  Students learn about politics from 12 full-time faculty and from nationally and internationally acclaimed visiting scholars (e.g., a former U.S. Attorney, the former editor of the Moroccan newspaper, Le Journal Hebdomadaire, and the former Columbian Minister of Energy).
