Class of 2014: David Peters
Inside USD -- It would have been hard for David Peters to find a better fit than the University of San Diego.
Passionate about chemistry, the San Ramon, Calif., native is also fascinated by the natural world and the outdoors so a major in biochemistry was a natural fit for him. Peters said he enjoyed “every minute” of his time at USD and “benefited hugely” from an environment where he was able to interact personally with his professors.
Peters recalled how Associate Professor Christopher Daley spent an entire afternoon introducing him to a new crystal structure and explaining the use of a new scientific instrument. Peters enjoyed doing research with Professor Mitchell Malachowski on the organic synthesis of brand new compounds that could eventually be used to store hydrogen gas for fuel or sequester carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
