Interdisciplinary Humanities Major Answers Her Call of the Wild

Congratulations to USD Interdisciplinary Humanities major Bernadette Smith for her award-winning research presentation on evolutionary theory in Jack London's The Call of the Wild at the AAAS-PD (American Association for the Advancement of Science-Pacific Division) conference at USD this June. In addition to winning first place for her category (History and Philosophy of Science), Smith received an award for student presentations at the conference in general. Her awards include $275, a certificate, and a one-year student membership in AAAS. Her project is titled, “Darwinian Evolution in Jack London: Dualistic representations of evolution and social Darwinism in the character of Buck.”
