Devany Savage Named WCC Player of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Freshman striker Devany Savage of the University of San Diego women's soccer team has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Savage, a 5-2 freshman from San Diego, helped propel the Toreros to a season-opening upset win over No. 19 University of Southern California this past Friday. Savage scored her first collegiate goal in Friday's upset win, as she got her head on the ball that was crossed from junior forward Stephanie Ochs inside the goal box and put it right past the goalkeeper in the 59th minute of action to lift USD to victory. This marked the first time ever that USD has defeated the Trojans in Los Angeles.
Savage and the Toreros will return to action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. In the night cap of the USD Tournament when they take on the University of Arizona. (View Video)
