| Message | San Diego Union Tribune -- It’s a show that seems to air everywhere all the time, but by the end of this month, new episodes of “Law & Order” won’t be found anywhere. NBC announced Friday that it’s canceling the venerable crime show after 20 seasons, exiling it to a lifetime of cable reruns and robbing the series of its chance to replace the 21-season “Gunsmoke” as the longest-running drama in TV history. “There is something about the civics and citizenship of ‘Law & Order’ that you don’t see in other shows,” said Esteban del Rio, assistant professor of communication studies at the University of San Diego.
