Music Program Tunes Up Fall Schedule

Message

The hills from Linda Vista to Rancho Bernardo to Ecuador will be alive with the sound of music, USD-style, throughout the coming year.

“The new year is always exciting for us,” says Angela Yeung, Ph.D., associate professor and director of the USD Symphony and Chamber Music Ensembles. “There are always new students, and we don’t play the same (music) pieces each year, so it’s always different.”

The music program at USD includes students, faculty, staff and community members, in varied groups. These include choirs, the symphony and chamber music ensembles. The 2008 schedule of concerts kicks off Sunday, Oct 19 in Rancho Bernardo, a neighborhood in northern San Diego County.

The fourth annual USD North County Music Showcase, a free concert, begins at 4 p.m. at San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo. The USD Symphony, San Rafael Parish Choir and the Immaculata Parish Choir will perform Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum”. Two USD soloists, Tori Lund ’08 (soprano) and senior Amanda Leger (alto), will be featured and Yeung will conduct. (Full Story Inside USD)
