Davary's Women and the Qur'an receives Adele Mellen Prize
Bahar Davary, Ph.D., associate professor of Theology and Religious Studies, published her book Women and the Qur'an: A Study in Islamic Hermeneutics (Mellen Press, 2009). This book has been awarded The Adele Mellen Prize for its distinguished contribution to scholarship. Davary’s work focuses on the interpretation of the classical Islamic canon as well as engagement with the concrete lives and social situations of women in various parts of the Muslim world.
