Pre-Health Advising: Are You Considering a Career in a Health Field?

The Pre-Health Advising Office works closely with pre-health students to identify specific professional school prerequisites, determine appropriate courses, assist with locating volunteer and community service opportunities, and to help students understand the professional school application process. In addition to these responsibilities and goals, the Pre-Health Advising Office also functions as a liaison to various professional schools, serves as club advisor to campus pre-health clubs, and provides referral support for on and off campus resources for volunteering opportunities.

There are a variety of ways to become involved with the Pre-Health Advising office:

  1. Attend a Pre-Health Advising workshop such as the Preparing for a Career in the Health Professions workshop, Interviewing Skills workshop, Professional School Application workshops, Health Career Pathway Options workshops and Personal Statement workshops.
  2. Schedule a meeting with Carol Moffett, director of Pre-Health and National Awards.  Moffett can be contacted at moffett@sandiego.edu or (619) 260-2944 and her office is located in Founders Hall 114.
  3. Join a Pre-Health Club on campus: American Medical Student Association(AMSA), Health Careers Club (HCC), Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS), Phi Delta Epsilon, Pre-Dental Club, Pre-Physical Therapy Club, Rx for Success (pre-pharmacy)
