Theatre Arts Students Honored by Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

Message

Four Theatre Arts students have been honored by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for their work in this fall’s performance of “Cabaret.”  Michael Ahmad and Mishel Brown both received nominations for the Irene Ryan Scholarship based on their performances in “Cabaret.”  This is Ahmad’s second nomination.  With this nomination they will compete in February at the regional festival, presenting scenes and a monologue as part of the competition.  Jennifer Paredes received an award of merit for acting and Angie Petinos received an award of merit for stage management.

“Cabaret” was entered in the festival for Region 8 as an associate production.  Based on this entry a respondent from KCACTF attended a performance to offer feedback to the theatre department, in support of emerging theatre programs and actors.  KCACTF is dedicated to “improving the quality of college theatre in the United States” by providing opportunities for undergraduates to develop greater theatre skills, encouraging college and university productions and by recognizing the “finest and most diverse” work at the college and university level.
