In Mexico students conduct field based study on the environment
Each summer students across a variety of disciplines participate in the field based course that studies the water quality and marine ecology of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Michel Boudrias, PhD of Marine Science and Jim Bolender, PhD from Chemistry and Biochemistry, co-lead a multidisciplinary team that studies heavy metal impacts, nutrient loading, long-term ecological change and the effects of stingray feeding on the environment in Bahia Magdalena. Students gain experience in conducting hands-on teamwork to solve real-life applied scientific problems.
