Pre-Health program paves path to future
When Laurel Seibert came to 2005 she knew she wanted a career that would allow her to help people. As she discovered a keen interest in chemistry, a career in pharmacology seemed like an obvious choice. Seibert has a role model for her decision. Her father is a pharmacist and has been an example of how a love of science can lead to a career of helping people. As a 2009 graduate, Seibert is preparing to attend the University of Arizona’s Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Seibert's academic success and involvement in USD's clubs and activities exemplify the Torero spirit.
As a pre-health student with a major in Biochemistry Seibert excelled in a variety of ways, truly leaving her mark on USD. According to Carol Moffet, director of Pre-Health and National Awards Advising, "Laurel was a very memorable pre-health student who demonstrated a sincere commitment to helping others. She was also instrumental in developing a sustainable Pre-Pharmacy Club at USD and served as a dedicated Pre-Pharmacy Peer Advisor. Students like Laurel reflect the core values of USD and positively impacted the growth of the Pre-Health Advising Office."
Seibert’s success at USD goes beyond her pre-health focus. She spent a year studying abroad in Ireland at the University College Cork, where she embraced living abroad and learning about Irish culture and tradition while continuing her studies in Biochemistry. After returning to USD Seibert continued her involvement in Pre-Health Advising, Chemistry Club and intramural soccer.
