Are you working towards tenure? Have a grant to write? A new course to develop? A soccer tournament for the kids? Laundry that has piled up? The demands of an academic career can be stressful and eventually result in burnout. How, then, can you balance the work of a professor with your life away from work – your relationships, family, outside interests?  And how does all of this impact your physical and psychological health?  Sandra Sgoutas-Emch, Ph.D., professor of Psychology and director, Center for Educational Excellence, shares ways to move toward balance with tips for:

Recognizing warning signs of stress and burnout
Setting and keeping priorities
Tips from research on effective and productive faculty
Taking advantage of USD and community resources

This new faculty event is designed for full-time, tenure-track faculty with up to 3 years teaching experience at USD. It is an opportunity for networking and informal conversation. Please join us to meet new colleagues and enjoy good food and dialogue!  RSVP by March 16.
