Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung and sponsored by the Greater San Diego Music Coterie, the Chamber Music Festivals at the University of San Diego have provided a unique opportunity for chamber-music making and public performance for musicians of all ages since 2006. Experienced chamber musicians enjoy the challenge of an intense coaching and performance schedule. Those with little or no chamber music experience appreciate the careful grouping of ensembles, selection of pieces, and guidance by experienced coaches. The gains from each festival surpass those of the chamber music experience alone: musical appetites, self-confidence, and spirit of teamwork are sparked, and lasting friendships are formed.
Each year the University of San Diego hosts a weekend chamber music festival in February – Winter Chamber Heat (WCH), and a day/evening chamber music festival at the end of June and beginning of July – Summer Festival. Coaching sessions for both festivals are conducted by members of the San Diego Symphony and music faculty of the University of San Diego. Participants of advanced musical levels may perform along with the coaches at concerts. In recent years the Summer Chamber Music Festival expanded its ensemble opportunities to include a Viol Consort Initiative (VCI) and Viol Trial, both directed by New-York based viola da gambist Lisa Terry. Beginning in 2013, the new initiative Cello Champs will be directed by the Argentine American cellist/educator Carina Voly
The Chamber Music Festivals welcome individual participants and pre-formed groups. Each member of the pre-formed group must complete the application form separately. The Festivals are open for auditing. Those interested may contact Dr. Angela Yeung at email@example.com.
Volunteering at and donations to the Festivals are most welcome. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law. Please contact Dr. Angela Yeung at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Volunteering for the Festival may substitute for ticket purchase for participants who cannot afford to help with tickets.
Pre-College applicants must have their application form signed by the parent/guardian. All individual participants will be assigned to various ensembles by Festival staff. New applicants must submit a short recording of your playing by the application deadline. The recording is not an audition but a mean for us to get to know the technical level of each individual participant. The Summer Festival is non-competitive and welcomes musicians of all ages and technical levels.
On-campus housing (single or multiple occupancy) is available for out-of-town participants. Please contact Dr. Angela Yeung at email@example.com.
Application Deadline: Friday, May 10, 2013. An additional $100 late fee applies to all applications received after May 10, 2013.
