Trios by Ferdinand Ries. Alyze Dreiling, violin (USD faculty); Lorie Kirkell, cello; and Diane Snodgrass, piano. Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838) is best remembered as a pupil and co-author of an important biography of Beethoven. Ries -- also a secretary and copyist for Beethoven -- was a celebrated performer on the piano and a notable composer during his days. The concert presents three of his piano trios that were written in the early, middle and late stage of his career. Tickets available at the door only.
