Bailey Gordon (USD '15) with the Greater San Diego Community Orchestra

Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1, Op. 33.  Also in the program will be Mozart's Symphony No. 40, KV 550 and Haydn's Symphony No. 104, ³London².Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung. Tickets on sale at the door only:  $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors and USD faculty, staff and alumni; special $2 ticket for USD students enrolled in any music class this semester. Guitar Recital

A variety of styles will be represented from Europe to Latin America. The music is selected from a broad range of time periods from the Renaissance to Modern era. Mr. Foster will be performing these pieces on a traditional classical guitar as well as an 11 string guitar designed to perform music written for the baroque lute. This instrument was designed by Terry Schumacher and built by Kenny Hill. Eric will play a number of his own Compositions written for both instruments. Tamir Hendelman Trio Jazz Concert

Reception to follow
Acclaimed pianist Tamir Hendelman brings his jazz trio to the University of San Diego for an evening of scintillating originals and jazz standards. Over the course of his distinguished musical career, Hendelman has worked with notable performers such as Gladys Knight, Diana Krall and John Pizzarelli, in addition to being featured on Natalie Cole’s “Still Unforgettable” and two of Barbara Streisand’s recent recordings. In his trio, Tamir explores standards, Brazilian music, blues and his Israeli roots. Fred Eckstein, a writer with LA Jazz Scene, said “[Hendelman’s] playing... is so sensitive, introspective and captivating that you could literally hear a pin drop in an audience of some 500 people."This concert is sponsored by Eric '64 and Aveline von Ehrenberg, the College of Arts andSciences and the Department of Music.

Gamelan Concert

Students from the new USD Gamelan Ensemble, directed by Dr. David Harnish, present a performance of music from Bali, Indonesia. The gamelan is an ensemble of metallophones, gong-chimes, cymbals, and drums and features dynamic and interlocking musical parts. Concerts frequently feature dance as well.

Choral Scholar Christmas Concert

Jazz Ensemble Concert and Mariachi Ensemble Concert

Students from the USD Jazz ensemble, and the new USD Mariachi Ensemble, will perform a multitude of pieces from traditional to contemporary big band music as well as Folklorico and Mariachi music. Under the direction of Ella Steinberg and Serafin Paredes in association with FAMA (Folklorico and Mariachi Association).
