Professor Margit Smith from Copley Library, USD's specialist in codicology, will be presenting her recent research on girdle books, a now very rare but once common form of binding used for its convenience and portability. Her presentation will cover the unique features of girdle books as well as, more generally, the traditional methods of creating and binding books. She will illustrate her lecture with fascinating images and objects. All are welcome.
