Math Center Tutor Application

For Students That Have Not Previously Tutored in the Center

The Mathematics Center, located in Serra 310, is available and free to USD students on a walk-in basis.  Math Center tutors provide peer tutoring to students who are in their lower level mathematics courses.  The goal of the Mathematics Center is to provide short-term assistance as we help students become independent learners.

The services and hours for the Math Center are:

  • Monday - Thursday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
    Drop In Hours: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
    Group Tutoring Sessions: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
    Drop In Hours only
  • Sunday: 7 p.m. - 10 pm.
    Drop in Hours only

Number of Hours Given to Hired Tutors:
Each tutor hired will be given a minimum of 4 confirmed hours per week.

Each tutor hired potentially has the opportunity for additional tutoring hours via the scheduled group-tutoring sessions. Opportunity will depend upon student request and tutor availability.

The center will be offering scheduled group-tutoring sessions during different time slots. Students will be able to schedule an appointment for these group-tutoring sessions through an online scheduling tool. The MLC director will contact tutors (that have provided availability during this time slot) one week before the scheduled time by asking the tutors availability to tutor the requested group-tutoring session.

If you are hired for Fall 2012, the Director of the MLC will contact (via email) all hired tutors two weeks before the Fall 2012 semester begins, asking hired tutors to send their tutoring availability by Sunday, September 2nd.
