| Message | Applications of the Representation Theory of the Symmetric Group Presented by Professor Matt Davis, Harvey Mudd College
Audience: Faculty
Abstract The symmetric group is a beautiful and important example in representation theory, and its representations make surprising appearances in a number of interesting areas. We will discuss two in particular - the use of the Discrete Fourier transform in a certain context in machine learning, and Aldous' order for representations of the symmetric group as it relates to two random walks. |
