Each year, science students participate in a scientific expedition aboard the Scripps Institution of Oceanography ship, the R/V Gordon Sproul.

This research trip serves as a hands-on experience in the interdisciplinary nature of oceanography, and provides samples for analysis in the laboratory component of our Biological Oceanography and Geological Oceanography courses.
