The Italian language placement exam was developed by the Department of Languages and Literatures at USD. It is designed to help determine which course you should take, based on your ability and language background.
First you will be asked to fill out a language survey as completely as possible. This information will be used to make your placement more accurate. When you have completed the survey click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. A new screen will appear showing a confirmation that your survey answers have been sent. Look for a link to the placement exam at the bottom of the page; click it and, once the new form has been downloaded to your computer, you can start the exam.
The exam is multiple-choice and has 36 questions of different ability levels. Answer all the questions making thoughtful guesses when necessary. When you have completed the exam click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. The exam will be automatically mailed to the appropriate person for evaluation.
If you experience any problems or technical difficulties while trying to take the exam, please report them as soon as possible to the Director of Placement.
