Waiver of Proficiency
Students who completed high school outside of the U.S. may apply for a waiver of the core language requirement.
In order to be eligible for a Waiver of Proficiency, you must have completed high school in another country and not in a British and American school. If you meet both requirements, please see the department chair during office hours or e-mail her for an appointment if you are not free at those times. You must bring an unofficial copy of your high school transcript for her to review.
As long as all requirements are met, the waiver will be sent to the One-Stop Center. Please note that no units are attached to the waiver. Your academic record will indicate that you satisfied the language requirement by native proficiency.
It is our hope that anyone who receives a waiver for one of the languages we teach will volunteer to tutor students studying your language and culture.
