Title

French, German, Italian and Spanish: New Course

Message

This spring, Beatriz Lado, Ph.D., will offer a new course designed to provide future teachers with the fundamental concepts of foreign language teaching.

Topics include

  • a brief introduction to theories of second language acquisition in the classroom;
  • teaching approaches and methods;
  • roles of instruction, input, teacher, and student;
  • classroom interaction; and
  • classroom management.

Throughout the semester, students will design lesson plans, activities, tests, and tasks for all language skills. Students will be assessed through teaching presentations, tests, and assignments, including a teaching portfolio. The class will be conducted in English; students will turn in work written in the target language.

Enrollment is limited. (FREN 494, 1; GERM 494, 2; ITAL 494, 2 and SPAN 494, 2)
