Scholarly and Creative Work
Professor Hepp's research interests focus on Italian culture and history from WWII to the present. She is particularly interested in the changes that took place in the economic, social and educational fields after the Second World War. After her dissertation on the relations between Fascism and the Vatican, she continued doing research with particular interest in the Jewish question in Italy. She did interviews and contributed to a history magazine published in Italy. Dr Hepp is also interested in contemporary Italian fiction, particularly women writers, whose work she uses extensively in her advanced Italian classes.
In her courses Professor Hepp focuses on developing linguistic proficiency and a solid understanding of present-day Italian culture. She uses a communicative methodology, and strives to create a learning environment that fosters interaction and collaboration.
