| Message | In this inaugural lecture for the new Italian studies major at USD, Pasquale Verdicchio will address issues of cultural translation, adjustment, adoption and adaptation. Verdicchio teaches Italian studies, film, cultural studies and environmental literature at the University of California, San Diego. His prolific work as critic, poet and translator has been published in journals and in book form by a variety of presses. His books include Bound by Distance: Rethinking Nationalism through the Italian Diaspora (1997); Devils in Paradise: Writings on Post-Emigrant Cultures (1998); and Looters, Photographers, and Thieves (2011). His most recent poetry collection, This Nothing’s Place, was awarded the 2010 Bressani Prize. Reception to follow. |
