Advanced Credit
AP, CLEP & IB
Students who have earned the required score on any of these exams have already fulfilled the Core Curriculum language requirement and do not need to take any more language classes unless they intend to declare a major or minor in the language.
It is the responsibility of the student to have an official record of the exam score sent to USD. Ms. Lynne Stearns processes them and makes notations on the USD transcript. Please direct questions to her (Founders 128-B, extension 7749).
Those who have taken the AP Language, IB SL, or CLEP exams and wish to continue with their language studies will enroll in a fourth semester class (French, German, Latin, Japanese, Spanish 202).
Those who have taken the AP Literature or the IB High Level exam must consult the appropriate faculty to determine what class to take next:
- French: Dr. Michèle Magnin, Founders 144, Ext. 4063
- German: Dr. Brigitte Heimers, Founders 148, Ext. 4065
- Spanish: Dr. Kimberly Eherenman, Founders 136B, Ext. 4068
