Equivalencies

These pages explain alternate ways of receiving credit for classes in (foreign - not English!) languages and literatures.

The Core Curriculum requirement can be satisfied by taking our Competency Exam or with credit earned on advanced exams (AP, IB, CLEP). We do not accept any other sort of competency exam.

On the Transferring Courses page you will find the procedure for getting credit for lower- and/or upper-division courses taken at other colleges and universities. Please note that approval must be obtained BEFORE taking a class elsewhere. There is also a chart of classes commonly transferred from local institutions.
