Bereavement Notice
It's with great sadness that we share that Professor Joseph Colombo passed away on January 2, 2012. A passionate and inspiring professor, he joined the THRS faculty in 1984 and served as Department Chair from '98 -'04.
Prof. Colombo was recognized with a Steber Professorship in '06, as well as named a University Professor in '97.

Bereavement Notice
Religious of the Sacred Heart Helen McHugh died December 30, 2011, at Oakwood, the Society of the Sacred Heart's elder care center in Atherton, California. Sister McHugh spent much of four decades at the University of San Diego. She first arrived at the San Diego College for Women in 1965 as a professor of English. Over the next 27 years, she served as the chair of both the English department and the fine arts department. Named professor emerita in 1988, she continued to direct a tutoring program and conduct research until she came to Oakwood in 2003.
A mass will be held in Sr. McHugh's honor on Wednesday, March 28 at 12:15 p.m. in Founders Chapel. -

Associate Professor Michelle Jacob was recently honored as Professor of the Game. Fitting for the Ethnic Studies professor whose master's dissertation explored the impact of basketball on girls of the Yakama Nation.

Students in our Living Learning Communities spent the day in Julian, a picturesque town in the mountains just east of San Diego. Known for their apple farms and quaint downtown, Julian provided a nice backdrop for a weekend day trip.
