| Message | Musicians of all ages and from around the world will participate in the seventh annual Summer Chamber Music Festival at the University of San Diego. Concerts takes place from July 1 to 7.
Directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, the USD Chamber Music Festival has provided a unique opportunity for chamber-music making, education and performance for musicians of all ages since 2006.
- The opening faculty concert is Sunday, July 1 at 2 p.m. in the Shiley Theatre in Camino Hall. Works include the Brahms Piano Quintet, Schumann Piano Trio, Beethoven Serenade, and duos for baroque cello and viola da gamba. Tickets for a post-concert reception on July 1 are $5.
- Festival participant concerts take place Thursday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Hall and Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Shiley Theatre. Tickets for these concerts are on sale at the door and are $12, general admission and $10, students, seniors, and USD faculty, staff and alumni. Music for the July 5 concerts includes Haydn’s, Beethoven’ and Ravel’s string quartets, Bizet’s and Ravel’s music for piano 4-hands, Dvoák’s Bagatelles, and music for Viol Consort. Music for the July 7 concerts includes Boccherini’s string quintet, Beethoven’s clarinet trio, Brahms’ clarinet quintet, Knight’s Selfish Giant Suite, Rachmaninoff’s Romance for piano 6-hands, Anderson’s Clarinet Candy, and music for Viol Consort.
- There will also be lunchtime concerts with festival participants on July 2, 3, 5 and 6 at 12:15 p.m. in USD’s La Gran Terraza restaurant in the Hahn University Center. Admission is free with a lunch purchase. Music for these concerts includes Thompson’s Scherzino, Foote’s Spiccato Caprice, Doppler’s Duettino sur des motifs Americains, and music for Viol Consort.
