Louann Sabatini

Louann Sabatini

Louann was born and raised in San Diego, California and received her undergraduate degree at San Diego State University in History.

Louann's regional expertise is in American history, focusing on early America. Her specializations also include Gender in America, Women's History, Nineteenth Century America, and Revolutionary America. She plans to complete her graduate degree in Spring 2015.

Why did you choose USD?

"I chose University of San Diego because of its academic excellence, rigorous coursework, and belief that faculty and resources would prepare me for the next and final level, a PhD in history."

Meradeth Edwards

 

Meradeth Edwards

Meradeth comes to the University of San Diego from Omaha, Nebraska, where she received her undergraduate degree at Minnesota State University, Moorhead.

Her expected graduation date from the MA History program is August 2014.

Why did you choose USD?

"I chose USD because of the beautiful campus, and I wanted to be by the sea!"

Tyler Daniel Lachman

 

Tyler Daniel Lachman

Tyler is originally from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California. He completed his undergraduate degree at Ursinus College & California Lutheran University.

Tyler plans to complete his graduate studies in the MA History program in Fall 2014.

Why did you choose USD?

"I chose USD because I wanted the best small private school on the West Coast. Also I wanted a school that would give me the best chance to be prepared for the top PhD History programs in the country."

Larisa Patrick

 

Larisa Patrick

Larisa is a San Diego native. She joined the MA History program after receiving a BA in History and Political Science from USD in May 2011.

She plans to complete her MA in History in Fall 2014.

Why did you choose usd?

"I chose USD because I knew I wanted to stay in San Diego and USD is such a welcoming campus. The professors are what make the University and have helped me grow both academically and personally. The smaller class size and 1-on-1 interaction are key. I also love the focus on both Catholic and compassionate service on campus."

Samantha Chu

Samantha Chu

Samantha is in her second year in the MA History program where she focuses on Sino-Japanese relations, particularly from the early 20th century up to modern times. She is from San Diego but grew up in Hong Kong where she attended the American International School. Samantha received her BA in History in 2011 from USD and expects to graduate in May 2014 from the MA History program.

why did you choose usd?

"I chose USD because of the beautiful campus, the intimate learning environment, and the amazing history faculty. Having done my undergraduate work at USD, I experienced firsthand how supportive the professors in the History department are and how much they really do want their students to succeed. Further, the smaller class environment allows more personal interactions with other students and professors, resulting in more effective learning and academic growth."

Ezequiel Lihosit

 

Ezequiel Lihosit

Ezequiel is originally from Madera, California. He received his undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University (NAU) and is looking forward to finishing his MA in History in May 2015.

Why did you choose usd?

"I chose USD because of its proximity to the U.S. Mexican-border and its reputation."

George Allen Rothrock

 

George Allen Rothrock

George is from Poway, California, making him a San Diego native. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego and plans to complete the MA History program in May 2014.

Why did you choose usd?

"I chose USD because of the reputation of the faculty and areas of emphasis."

 

 

Austin English

Austin is originally from Los Angeles and attended USD as an undergraduate student. He received his BA in History in 2012.

His expected graduation date from the MA History program is Spring 2015.

why did you choose usd?

"The history department at USD supplied me with an incredible undergraduate experience and the department's faculty are phenomenal."

 

 

Joshua Rich

Joshua is originally from Fort Worth, Texas and spent 10 years from 2003 to 2013 in the Navy, where he also lived in Florida, Washington, and California. He received his BS in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology from Texas A&M University. Additionally, Joshua holds a MA in International Relations from USD. He plans to complete his second MA in History in Fall 2014.

Why did you choose usd?

"I chose USD because I like the small, Catholic school environment, and it is a Yellow Ribbon school (i.e. very Vet friendly)."

 

 

Katrina Thoreson

Katrina Thoreson is originally from San Diego and went to Whittier College for her undergraduate degree in history. She is currently in her second year in the MA program at the University of San Diego and plans to graduate in May 2014.

Why did you choose USD?

"I chose to go to USD after having a great experience at a small private school for my undergraduate degree. I love the smaller class sizes and the relationships you are able to build with professors. The beautiful campus is a plus!"
