NSF Grad Fellow Eager for Science Research, Outreach


Inside USD -- The University of San Diego’s Marine Science graduate program is enjoying a first this academic year. Sacramento’s Liz Lopez has arrived on campus as the program’s first-ever National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship recipient.

The award, which in 2013 was given to 2,000 students from a pool of more than 13,000 applicants nationwide, covers Lopez’s tuition and living costs.

“It’s the golden ticket for graduate students, it’s a phenomenal fellowship to win,” said Drew Talley, USD assistant professor for Marine Science and Environmental Studies, who already has Lopez working among his student lab research group. (Full Article
