Congratulations to Stephanie Siordia for being awarded this year the Alcala Senior Award!

The Alcala Senior Award is a prestigious and highly coveted award presented during commencement to one graduating senior woman and one graduating senior man who best exemplify the holistic education that USD provides all of its students. For the second year in a row, an Ethnic Studies Major has won the award.  Congratulations Stephanie!

Her future plans are to start training on June 22nd with Teach for America as an early childhood education teacher in the Los Angeles area. She will also start a Master's program for early childhood education teachers through California State University, Dominguez Hills.  After her two year commitment, her goal is to pursue a Ph. D. in Ethnic Studies.            

Here is a bit of information about Stephanie:                        

Her cumulative G.P.A is a 3.51. Double major in Ethnic Studies and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. Honors: Graduated with honors (cum laude). Recipient of the Alcalá Award. Recognized by the Latino Unity Coalition in May 2007. Recipient of Outstanding Contribution to the Entire Campus through Involvement. Christopher R. Wilson Ethnic Studies Community Scholar. Departmental Honors in Ethnic Studies. Ruben R. Mitchell Campus-Wide Impact Award.
