USD Ethnic Studies Student Honored at San Pasqual
The University of San Diego was well represented at this year’s American Indian Recruitment Programs Annual Awards Banquet, hosted by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians at the San Pasqual Tribal Hall on Nov. 18, 2010.
Wynona Peters '11 (Ethnic Studies and Sociology) was honored as the 2010 Mentor of the Year. Roberta Garcia '11, 2009 Mentor of the Year, and Ethnic Studies professor Michelle Jacob introduced Peters at the awards ceremony. Peters accepted the award in front of a packed house at the Tribal Hall, including her family, who traveled from Arizona to attend the event.
During the ceremony, the USD Department of Ethnic Studies was thanked for being such a strong advocate of American Indian education, through our ongoing partnership with the AIR Program. Thanks also to our colleagues in admissions, McNair and SSS for attending the event.
