Lunch Discussion: Global Learning Without a Passport

Event Start DateThursday, November 17, 2011
Institute for Peace & Justice, Rooms H/I
Event Start Time12:15 pm - 1:30 pm

USD’s strategic goals lift up the importance of global learning, of becoming culturally fluent and critically aware of others in the increasingly interconnected world in which we live and grow. In a city like San Diego—on an international border, with sizeable immigrant and refugee communities from all over the world, and with more American Indian reservations (sovereign nations) than any other county nationwide, global learning can, and should be engaged at the curricular level. Drawing from 10 years of research, teaching, and service with Somalis and ethnic communities in City Heights and the San Diego/Tijuana region, Jesse Mills, PhD, (ethnic studies) offers practical examples and encouragement for internationalizing your classroom.

Lunch will be provided for this International Education Week special session. Please RSVP here by November 14 or by calling the CEE at (619) 260-7402 or e-mailing
