Centers and Lecture Series in the English Department

We are proud to host two endowed lecture series and oversee the success USD's Writing Center and the Cropper Center for Creative Writing.

Funded by Barrie and Dorothy Cropper, the Cropper Center for Creative Writing is a special home for USD's creative writers.

USD Writing Center provides help to all students - undergraduate and graduation - to improve their academic writing at all phases during the writing process.

The Cropper Memorial Writers Series hosts notable authors and poets each semester to inspire the creative writer in all of us.

In memory of late USD English faculty Joanne Dempsey, this lecture series brings literary scholars to the University of San Diego community.

The Southeast San Diego Tutoring Program offers students the  opportunity to intern at a local, low-income elementary school or middle school (K-8), tutoring children in basic reading, writing, and math while earning academic credit.
