Contemplative Studies

Contemplative Pedagogy PLC

Organized and facilitated by USD's Center for Educational Excellence, the Contemplative Pedagogy Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a group of diverse teacher-scholars who meet each month to discuss contemplative pedagogy. This PLC originally formed in spring semester of 2011 and was originally named the Spirituality PLC. After discussion, members decided that "contemplative" more accurately described their shared approach to teaching and learning. The PLC completed its preliminary work in 2013.

Comprised of individuals from various disciplines and departments and across USD's diverse academic community, the PLC's members were as follows:

Steven Gelb (School of Leadership and Educational Sciences)

Cheryl Getz (School of Leadership and Educational Sciences)

Aaron Gross (Department of Theology and Religious Studies)

Margaret MaCahill (Hahn School of Nursing and Health Sciences)

Jessica Patterson (Department of Art, Architecture, and Art History)
