Roger C. Pace, PhD, has been a member of the faculty since 1987.  He is a professor of Communication Studies and also currently serves as the director of the basic speech courses.   He teaches courses in communication theory and organizational communication.  Pace’s research interests are group and organizational decision making and the effects of emerging technologies on communication patterns and outcomes.  He is the former associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the Faculty Senate.

Areas of Interest

Pace has taught a variety of courses including introduction to communication, public speaking, communication theory, small group decision making, organizational communication, interviewing and negotiation, independent film, and documentary film.  He teaches in the university’s Honors Program and the Study Abroad Program in Guadalajara, Mexico.  He also, along with Professor Eric Pierson, teaches a course in Independent Film at the Sundance Film festival in Park City, Utah.  He was named the first recipient of the Outstanding Preceptor Award in 2006 for his work with first year students and was given the Parents’ Association Award of Excellence in 1998.
