Assistant Professor, Communication Studies
Sarah K. Foregger, Ph.D., teaches courses emphasizing a social science perspective of communication. Her specializations include interpersonal communication, social influence, health communication and research methods. Her most recent research focus has been on the use of media to maintain or establish interpersonal connections, specifically examining the use of Facebook.com by undergraduates.

Scholarly and Creative Work
Foregger’s research has focused on cognitive processing variables that affect persuasive message retention, prevalence of health-related social norms in college media, and exploration of Facebook.com through the uses and gratifications paradigm. She has presented her research at the National Communication Association, International Communication Association, and Western States Communication Association annual conferences. Foregger has also published collaborative research in Human Communication Research.
Teaching Interests
Foregger has previously taught courses in interpersonal influence and conflict, research methods, communication campaigns, and gender and communication. At USD, she has offered undergraduate courses in communication theory, public speaking, introduction to communication studies and will offer interpersonal communication in Spring 2010.
